The Zydeco workshop is a mini series of one hour classes designed to give you the basic idea of what Zydeco is and the essentials of open and closed positions. These workshops are usually given right before a festival.
Zydeco classes are month to month and students have time to get comfortable with basic and more intricate cool moves. New classes will begin in January and will get you ready to have fun dancing at the summer festivals.
Zydeco culture and music is all about fun! So, this is a great way for families to learn something new together and have a great time. It's also great way to make new friends!
You don't need a partner to learn to dance! This workshop is for teens and adults, (but if you have children that would like to join, we'll try to work in a special class just for them).
About Festivals:
There are several festivals happening throughout the USA, including Hawaii,.....but you can even Zydeco in Paris France! In Southern California,
there are yearly Cajun and Zydeco Festivals held every summer: Gator by the Bay in San Diego, Simi Valley Festival in Simi Valley, and The Bayou Festival in Long Beach. The Bayou Festival is not only really fun, but it's put on by CCD (Comprehensive Child Developement) and all the proceeds go to help children in need. What a great idea!
